Skinny is a great book about a young girl who is going through gastric bypass surgery. She is really really fat because her mum has died and she comfort eats a lot. She sets herself a target of becoming normal weight before the prom because she hears voices in her head telling her that people think that she’s ugly and wants them to stop so that she can lead a normal life. She makes many friends along the way and supposedly becomes more popular but are her true friends slipping away from her?

I love Skinny because it tells the true story about self confidence and teenage problems. It seems like a rubbish girly book from the outside but hey, never judge a book by its cover 📑👎! The truthfulness of this book is amazing and I think that it takes a lot of guts to write a book about such a serious subject. I would give this book **** because it is a great read but I would like it to be a little less stereotypical prom 👸💅💃. I can’t wait to read another of Donna Cooner’s books
